(I got a request from assistant of a senior Gujarat leader that he wanted some important points wrt science \ tech in Gujarat ; My response )

1. The most important is that Maths \ Science Education is detoriating in many schools and particularly Municipal Schools. Gujarat Govt must make a system to record where the municipal school students and students from ordinary private schools are lending after 5-10 years after they pass out. We should gather data on --- of the students who passed from Municipal Schools and Govt Schools in years say from 1995 to say 2008 , how of them
.
(a) took enrollment in class-`12 science
(b) got enrollment in Bsc, Engineering , MBBS etc
.
Same way, Govt should get this information for all other schools.

2. Gujarat Board should gather information on how many students of Gujarat board are enrolling in IIT , IISc , Engineering , MBBS and compare it with other boards such as CBSE and ICSE.

3. Most important way to improve sciences is ti make factories more and more competitive . And today, biggest problems factories are facing is -- sluggishness in courts. USA has one judge for population of 11,000 , while Gujarat has one judge for population of about 65000 . Gujarat has about 900 lower courts , while it needs at least about 5000 . Increase in number of courts will speed up the cases , will improve efficiency of factory owners will increase. This will increase competition and increase the demand of engineers as well as scientists

4. Gujarat Govt should organize competitions in Maths and Science similar to "Maths Olympiads" .

5. Gujarat Govt should print bilingual textbooks i.e. textbooks should be in both languages --- Gujarati and English. The Left page can be in English and the Right page should be its exact translation. This will improve English of students at early age.

These are some of the tasks , that be easily done to promote science and technology in Gujarat .
