NAGPUR: Newly re-elected sarkaryavah (general secretary) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Bhaiyyaji Joshi has said the Sangh would not resort to agitation mode for now to achieve its ultimate goal of building a Ram temple at Ayodhya. "The matter is before the Supreme Court. We would rather wait for a judicial resolution rather than taking any hasty public action," said Joshi on Sunday, a day after he was elected for the third straight term of three years as the number 2 in the RSS.

For years, the RSS has harped on the temple issue, calling it a matter of faith on which even courts had no jurisdiction. Its political offspring, the BJP, came into electoral reckoning after the Babri Masjid was demolished on the promise that an imposing temple would take its place. Over the years, the temple theme has fallen off BJP's election manifestos. Now, the Hindutva fountainhead also seems to be conveniently forgetting the 'faith factor' and is willing to patiently wait for the apex court to resolve the legal tangle. As Joshi said, the RSS in no hurry or mood for a public agitation over the temple.
