Land acquisition is also an urban issue, not rural issue. And NaMo in Gujarat has printed law-draft that Municipal Corporation can acquire land around roadside to widen road , male footpaths and also make stalls along footpaths without any cash compensation !!! The only compensation the land owner will get will be "additional FSI certificate" which he can sell to a builder and get cash from him !!! The additional FSI certificate can be used ONLY by those builder who own large plots near a wide road, and so the number of buyers will be small. These buyers can fix the game and prices will be low. So all in all, the person who lost property will lose big time.

The law was passed by Gujarat Assembly between 02-jun-2014 and 07-jun-2014 . NaMo was PM and not CM. But the bill was drafted in jan-2014 when NaMo was CM. And accent to present the bill was given by Central Govt in last week of may-2014 when NaMo was PM. And the Gujarat Govt is run by BJP under NaMo's political command. So technically, one can say that "NaMo has nothing to do with this bill" !! But that would be like saying that "Shakrimaan and Gangadhar are different persons !!".

So all in all, land acquisition is a mess in urban areas as well. And a HUGE land acquisition in urban areas is needed to widen roads, make footpaths etc.
