950 AD is the time when Coronor's Jury System came in UK. Due to this Coronor's JurySys, the corruption and heavy handedness of policemen reduced in UK. And it became very difficult for landlords etc to confiscate property of artisans. So artisans were able to keep the wealth they got from their luck, labor or innovation. So their productivity grew. And industrial strength of UK grew.
USA had JurySys which was stronger than UK and also had RTR at district and state level. So its productivity was higher from UK from day one. The total production was less, because till 1850s, its population was low. But once population reach UK levels, within decades its output increased and crossed UK level.
Germany was higher than UK till because Germany has more fertile land, it is better connected with Europe and so more trade. But because of better administration in UK, a large number of artisans, scientists etc were moving from mainland Europe to UK. And UK overgrew Germany. Also, due to better productivity, UK had developed better weapons. eg UK was first to develop rifles. Due to better weapons, UK captured larger parts of Africa, Australia, Asia etc and so it obtained more wealth, and so by 180) AAD, production in UK crossed that of Germany
The production USA is much higher than China ... the graph is "incorrect" because today, econometricians do not properly take into account value of weapons. USA is spending huge amounts in making hardware and software which goes in weapons. And this get very numbers in econometric methods, which gives lower court of over all production,
Also, USA owns all the oil wells of Iraq, Saud Arabia, Kuwait, Dubai and now Libya. But the oil produced their doesnt show as part of US economy in the official data. Likewise, USA has also captured large parts of Africa, and loots all minerals their. And this mineral wealth looted doesn’t show in USA's output. So "official" output of USA is low.
India's total industrial output was high due to fertile land and large population. But by 100 BC, China started adopting "recruitment by written exam" at all lower and middle levels in army, police and administration. Whereas India continued with hereditary or "hand-picking". So lower/middle administration in China improved and so production increases.
Post 1950, there are 5-10 main reasons why China grew at a fast rate. One is -- China's land-allocation laws were so that hoarding of plots far far more difficult compared to India. Second, China has better maths/science education system at bottom levels, There are many more reasons .....
