Duratma Gandhi asked Hindus NOT to kill Muslims who were killing, abducting, and arsoning, because it was against his principles of non-violence. So how to stop abductions? Well, Duratma Gandhi demanded that women should commit suicides to avoid abduction !!!!

A recallist colleagues of mine, Kalinga Singha , gave me above link today. And my hatred against Duratma Gandhi has just tripled. I will make 1000s of copies of the above newspaper clipping and also 1000s of copies of its Gujarati/Hindi translation. And I will publicly ask every Gandhi-fan to read this newspaper clipping in public. After he reads, I will ask that Gandhi-fan publicly if he supports suicide or counter-violence. And I request you all to do the same.

He was most emphatic in his instructions to women, insisting it was noty an idle idea and he meant every word he said. Last night he advised women to suffocate themselves by holding their breath to bring death. But he said today that he was told by phyisicians that suicide by that means is not possible. He said that he was told that "only way known to medicine for instant self immolation is string poisonous doses." He added "if this is so, I would advise everyone running risk of dishonor to take poison before submission to dishonor ...."

My take -- So Duratma Gandhi is perfectly fine with suicide, but he opposes counter-violence as self defense even in such extreme cases.

Obviously, every common man and true activist hated Duratma Gandhi. No common or true activist would ever support such Duratma who opposes violence in self-defense and supports suicides. It should be clear that it was paid-media which created a mirage that "commons loved Duratma Gandhi".
