Essentially, the Anna was just a media-powered image. In Feb-2011, mediamen gave 48 hour a day coverage to The Anna and even threw lies that 5000 people came on to Jantar Mantar on first day i.e. Feb-4-2011 and over 15000 came on last day i.e. Feb-8-2011 (whereas on first day only 800 had come and last day had 4000). Same lies and coverage were offered in Aug-2011. This time, mediamen decided not to give lies and coverage to favor The Anna, and so The Anna ended up becoming "an Anna".
But if mediamen decide to give him 48 hour a day coverage and also spread lies in his favor, The Anna may be back with a bigger bang.

Now the decision of the mediamen depend on how much money they get. Surely, The Anna doesnt have money to pay. The MNCs and super-corporates will decide whether they want to pay mediamen to highlight The Anna and speak lies in his favor or not. Even with Sarkari Lokpal, MNC-owners are happy as now they need to cater to only 9 people instead of 1000s of MPs, MLAs, Ministers, IAS, IPS etc, though Janlokpal would have been better for MNC-owners.
The Anna did a great favor to the MNC-owners by opposing the proposal to add Right to Recall Lokpal clauses in the Lokpal drafts. The MNC-owners in turn gave him a mention in the Time Magazine as media round the world. A partnership well kept by both --- India and Indians may go to hell.
