2015 Ahmedabad Corporation Election – Gujarati – speech summary

Hello Friends, My name is Rahul Chimanbhai Mehta and I have been trying to bring Right to recall, Jury system etc. reforms in India since 1999.

My educational background is that I have done my Btech in computer science from IIT Delhi. I finished B tech in 1990 and after that I did my M.S from New Jersey State University and for almost 7 years I did contract job in USA. In USA, I studied the police system, court system etc. laws and in 1999 I came back to India.

After that, I have been trying to bring Jury system, Right to recall etc. law reforms in India. I have been fighting elections since 2009. This time I am fighting in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, 2015 elections from 2 wards. In THAKKARRBAPA NAGA, my election serial number is 12 and my election symbol is Battery Torch. In RANIP, my election serial number is 14 and my election symbol is pressure cooker.

My aim to fight elections is to bring “RIGHT TO RECALL CORPORATOR’’ “RIGHT TO RECALL MAYOR” laws which will reduce corruption and injustice in the corporation.

The other law reform is “JURY SYSTEM OVER MUNICIPAL STAFF”
There are some urgent problems in Ranip like traffic and gutter related problems in Ranip. Traffic problem is due to railway crossing. Solution for Traffic problem is that to widen the railway crossing and to widen the underpass and build a new underpass.

Railway crossing can be widened in 15 days to one month. In spite of that, this work has not been done since last 500 days and Congress has not done this work in last 6 years. In same way, work of widening underpass has not been done. Making over bridge may take some time but it has not been done since last 6-8 years.

The other problem in Ranip is of gutter line and solution for that is to link gutter line to “Subhash Bridge” open canal.

If you see the flow of Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad, it flows from North to South meaning the slope of the land is from North to South. That is why, if the gutter lines are connected to Subhas Bridge open gutter canal, then the gutter line problem of New Ranip will be solved.

After that, other law reform which is necessary for corporation is “JURY SYSTEM OVER MUNICIPLAL STAFF”

Jury system means that if any persons complains about the corporation staff, then randomly 12-15-25 citizens will be randomly called and those citizens will decide whether there will be any punishment and how much will be the punishment. Those citizens will decide whether the corporation employee will continue with the job or will be expelled. After “JURY SYSTEM OVER MUNICIPAL STAFF” law reform, corruption and injustice in corporation will reduce.

Other issues are to widen the footpath, Right to recall City Education officer to improve education in municipal corporation schools and to have meter over all water connections so that 24 hour water can be supplied.
