Tipu won round-1 against British , because he was helped by French cannon expert. Once French decided to pull out of India, Tipu had started losing.

In the last battle, the British had encircled Tipu'f fort and Tipu was inside the fort. British had managed to make a small hole in the fort's wall. They bribed the man-in-charge of repairing the wall. So he didnt do the repairs and kept the hole in wall open. And later, some 50-100 British soldiers managed to enter into the fort thru the hole in fort's wall. But immidtaley . Tipu's soldiers came and fight started.

So there were just 50-100-200 British soldiers inside the Fort. And there were 100s and 1000s of Tipu's soldiers inside the fort trying to kill those 50-100-200 British soldiers. But the British soldiers manage to kill / push ipu's soldiers , and got access to the Fort's door, and opened the door. And then more British soldiers entered into the fort. And Tipu and his troops lost.

So could mere 50-100-200 British soldiers , who had entered the fort thu the hole in the wall managed to push 100s and 1000s of Tipu's soldiers back and reach the gate of the fort?

If you answer is "British soldiers had better weapons", then pls cite which weapon played role here. And if they had better weapons, why couldnt they break the fort walls or fort door? And they suceeded only after a hole was made in the fort wall?
