One of the suggestions on Electoral Reforms I have given is that Rajya Sabha Members should be elected DIRECTLY and not via MLAs and system of appointing 12 puppets should end (and MNC-puppets such as The Anna and S Swami have opposed both the proposals). The existing system where MLAs elect RS members have created an auction. eg Anil Ambani paid Rs 25 crores to Mulayam Yadav and Amar Singh to become Rajya Sabha MP from UP in 2005. If such system is to be continued, then we should have GoI conduct open auction to appoint all 245 RS MPs so that at least the money collected goes to GoI. And also allow global tenders and companies like Walmart to bid. Jokes aside, it is time we end the system of MLAs electing RS MPs and create a system where citizens elect RS MPs.

In USA too, from 1780 to 1890, their Rajya Sabha (Senate) members were elected by MLAs and so corruption was rampant. In 1890, citizens of USA replaced the system with direct election. We will be 110 years late. But better late than never.

The system I propose is as follows

1. Every 2 years, 33% of RS MPs retire as now.

2. Any party which has obtained over 5% votes in that State in LS or Assembly elections in past 10 years can put a list. Any person which has obtained over 25% votes in Assembly or over 15% votes in LS election in past 10 years can contest as independent or form a list.

3. Citizens will vote using preferential voting system.

4. The RS MPs will be elected based on votes the lists gets

As expected, MNC-puppets such as The Anna, The Chhote Anne and S Swamy has openly opposed direct elections of RS-MPs and insist on continuing existing MLA-electing RS-MP system. Existing system enables MNC-owners and Indian-elitemen to appoint their puppets in Rajya Sabha. No wonder, MNC-agents support such system and oppose direct elections.

I requested bhagats of The Anna and S Swamy to tell citizens of India via FB status and other means to come clean on why their leaders oppose direct election of RS MPs and insist on "payment" system as of today. Their bhagats too are all shameless creatures and insist on misguiding citizens by maintaining a silence. Shame on such activists who hide dark side of their leaders to people of India. With activists like these, India doesnt need enemies. These activists are doing better job than terrorists and MNCs in destroying India.
