1. First task --- convincing at least 543 recallists to contest LS elections , convincing 5000 recallists to contest MLA elections , and convincing some 20000 recallists to contest local elections
.
We at RRG want to create a mass movement to ensure that existing MPs or new MPs willingly or unwillingly print certain law-drafts So IMO we need to convince at least 543 recallists to contest Loksabha elections and 5000 recallists to contest Assembly elections, Now is election contesting must? Why cant recallists get this law-drafts without election contesting? Let me explain.
.
(a) say we recallists start the process of converting lakhs of other activists into recallists, and we succeed in converting 200000 activists into recallists.
.
(b) say lakhs of activists work, and manage to inform over 70 crore voters about RRG-law-drafts.
.
(c) and say 45 crore voters also send SMS to MPs to print RRG-draft.
.
(d) and over 70 crore voters know that SMS has been sent.
.
(e) say that the existing MPs refuse to print these law-drafts.
.
Now will AMUS meet MPs? NO. Because voters have NOT asked MPs to resign. And the MPs had made it clear before election that they will NOT print RTR-law-drafts. So there is no moral obligation to pass RTR-law-drafts. And no moral obligation to resign, So AMUS has right / duty to meet MPs
.
(f) now say over 45 crore voters send "resign" SMS to MPs.
.
(g) and RRG-activists ,make it clear that they will NOT contest elections. I repeat --- RRG-activists make it clear that they will NOT contest elections.
.
Now AMUS = Ahimsamurti Mahatma Udham Singh will think "what does nation gain by my meeting MPs? Most we will get will be a re-election. But recallists have refused to contest elections. And so again, only anti-recallists will contest elections. And so the new set of MPs too will oppose RRG-drafts. So there is no point in meeting MPs". IOW, AMUS will decide not meet MPs.
.
So MPs will know that AMUS is NOT going to meet MPs. So MPs will also think "AMUS isnt coming. And in next elections, recallists have refused to contest. So only anti-recall will contest. So my being anti-RTR will not give me any disadvantage. And if I support RTR-law-drafts, then I lose support of elitemen. So I am better off opposing RTR-law-drafts."
.
And the reverse effect will go on. Say 45 crore voters have sent SMS to print law-draft. And MPs have refused to print that law-draft. Now say a voter is thinking whether he should send "resign" SMS to his MP or not. The voter will also think "NO recallist wants to contest elections, So whats the point in sending order to resign via SMS to my MP? Even if all MPs resign, there will be re-election. But recallists have said that they will not contest elections. So only anti-recallists will contest elections. And new MPs too will be anti-RTR. IOW, ordering MP to resign will have no effect. So might as well put up with existing MPs".
.
And the reverse effect may also make some voters , not all voters, decide NOT to send SMS to print RRG-drafts !!! Many voters may think "these existing MPs have made it clear before election that they are anti-RTR-law-drafts. And MP knows that I cant ask MP to resign because no recallist wants to contest election. So if I send SMS to print RRG-drafts, then MPs will openly refuse, and it will be dead end anyway.".
.
A law-draft is good ONLY if it can find 45 crore voters who support it, and 2 lakh activists who publicize it AND there 543 activists willing to become MP to print those law-drafts in Gazette. If every activist who supports that a law-draft says "I will NOT contest election", then that law-draft is a body without a soul.
.
Many voters will listen to RTR-drafts only after 10s and 100s of recallists have contested LS-elections / MLA elections or shown willingness to contest elections. Because many voters may rightly say "See, you recallists may be having great drafts. But what good are these draft, if you yourself dont have even 543 recallists willing to contest elections on this issue, and ready to become MPs and print these law-draft.".
.
The biggest advantage of election contesting is that that will promote more and more voters and activists to read pamphlets and see DVDs. And so more and more voters and activists will come to know about RRG-drafts, SMS sending etc. And lastly, if you dont contest elections, your request to others to contest election will have no weight.
.
Many times, "take this action" has weight ONLY if you yourself have taken that action. There is a story o Mahatma Buddha which same moral. Once a mother came to Buddha with her child and request Buddha "my asks eats too much sweets. Please advice him not to eat too much sweets". Buddha asked her to come after 1 month, After one month, Buddha asked the child not to eat too mjuch sweetsm and the child reduced sweet eating,. So the disciple asked Buddha "why did you asked the mother to wait for one month?". Lord Buddha replied "a month back, I myself had habit of eating too much sweets. So my advice would have carried no weight. So first, I myself gave up sweets, and then I advised the child". Likewise,"please contest elections to publicize and establish RRG-drafts" request will carry weight ONLY if the asker himself too has contested election at least once.
.
Now we recallist can NOT tell 70 crore voters "see, first 1 crore voters must become RRP members or RRP voters. Only then, we will contest 543 seats". Such statements are good for businessmen, not for activist. A businessman can say that "first I want to see that my product has 1 crore buyers, and then only I will start manufacturing". This is preferctly valid for a businessman. But activist can NOT say so, and a real activist will NEVER say so. And if an activist says so,most voter will discard him as another businessman only. Too many voters would say "if you recallists have even 543 activists willing to lose elections with zero votes, then how do you propose to become a replacement of Congress / BJP / AAP ?". IMO, the activists must prove their commitment FIRST before asking voters to join their movement. Unless recallists prove commitment, they cant get attention of fellow activists and voters. (We can get attention if we have paidmedia. But we dont have paidmedia).
.
So finally, what if 543 + 5000 recallists refuse to contest Loksabha + Assembly elections? Then we recallist need to accept defeat, And we lost without giving any fight to speak of.

.
Why recallists are refusing to contest election
---------------------------------------------------------
..
I started RTR publicizing in year 1998 and then more rigorously in 2008. Since 2008, I am the ONLY one who is contesting elections. Two more recallists did filled forms, and were very much willing to contest,. But their forms got rejected due to technical incompleteness such as not writing section number / serial number of voters . Except that, no other recallists has shown any inclination to contest elections
.
What may the reasons why recallists are not contesting elections?
.
Whatever may be the reasons, there is a strong resistance in most recallists when it come sto contesting.
.
There are no PHYSICAL or material reasons for not contesting elections. Election contesting involves small amount --- Rs 3000 for local bodies Rs 10000 for MLA and Rs 25000 for loksabha seats. Most recallists can either spare that money or they do know 5 to 10 persons who will contribute, And pamphlet distribution etc will cost anywhere from Rs 20000 .One can manage with Rs 20000. So merely contesting LS election would cost Rs 50000, which I am sure recallists could have managed.
.
Filling election form is a huge hassle ---- fill a long affidavit, get signatures, write exact names , section number, serial number etc of voters. And xerox copies of their voter-ids too may be needed. IOW, form filling will consume 2 days to 3 days of running around, But this too can be managed.
.
IOW, I see no MATERIAL reason why recallists till date didnt contest election, .
.
IMO , the reasons for not contesting elections must be psychological.
.
(a) There may be fear that people will ridicule after they lose elections. Well, it is FACT that many many people will ridicule. And facing that ridicule is a sacrifice one needs to make.
.
(b) Another reason could be --- many recallists think that "election contesting is something that needs to be done by onlu 543 individuals and so someone else can do it ; there is no need for me to contest elections.
.
(c) Overestimated the volume of task --- Winning election is huge task , but contesting election to publicize a cause is NOT a huge task at all.
.
(d) waiting for number of activists , supporters to grow --- activists and supporters will grow ONLY as more and more recallists contest
.
The problem of not contesting election will damage Right to recall Group in several ways, Say a district has 10 good recallist. Say they refuse to contest MP-election.. Then I will be forced to ask less qualified and less committed recallist to contest LS-election. And so he will gain prominence. And in next election, when movement has grown, I will be giving LS ticket to same person, and then more deserving person will feel bad.
.
IOW, "waiting for right time" will only force myself, other recallists as well as voters to support a less qualified person. And it is not easy to change support once given,.
.
All in all, not contesting election is the BIGGEST problem I have seen in RTR movement so far. And what is worse is that reasons are ALL psycological and not physical at all. Whatever may be the reasons, ---- unwillingness to contest election will cost us a lot of time,. And if 543 recallists dont agree to contest LS-elections and 5000 recallists dont agree to contest Assembly elections, then RTR-law-drafts may never come. Because till large number of recallists contest elections, number of activists and number of supporters in this movement will remain low.
