CM Manohar Lal Khattar open to allowing foreigners to eat beef in Haryana

The Haryana BJP government led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has said he is ready to relax the rule for foreigners who want to eat beef in the state.

According to a report,the CM Khattar was quoted as saying, "If we have to work out some facility for foreigners to be able to (consume beef)… we will do it. It could be a special licence… [as] whatever is licensed, no one can oppose [under] the law”.

The Haryana government in march 2015 promulgated 'Gau Sanrakshan Avm Gau Samwardhan Bill 2015' which also provides for a fine ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs one lakh.

In case of default in payment of the fine, the convict will have to undergo another one year Rigorous Imprisonment, according to the Bill moved by state Animal Husbandry Minister OP Dhankar.
Khattar further added that the beef ban reflects the feelings of the Haryanvi society and the opposition to eating beef is not about anyone in particular.

Meanwhile, Hindu Mahasabha leaders have condemned the Khattar's comments and said the move shows the double face of BJP.
