AIT = Arrow's Impossibility theorem doesnt apply on "range voting" or approval system we have proposed for recall.
.
Many anti-democracy people often cite so called "Arrow's Impossibility Theorem" to show that all voting procedures are inherently prone to instability and so number of choices should be restricted to two or there should be benevolent dictatorship !! Seehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrow's_impossibility_theorem for more.
.
But plain old "range voting" where each voter gives 0-100 marks to candidate is immune to Arrow's impossibility theorem. The approval system , used the RTR-drafts, where voter gives 0-1 to each candidate is also immune to AIT. The approval system we have proposed can be updraded to range voting where person gives 1-100 score to candidate he approves, and gives 0 to candidates he doesnt know or doesnt like. The outcome of this is stable. Please google on Range Voting and Approval Voting.
.
AIT "works" because voters are allowed to say "cadidateA > candidateB" , but are restricted from saying how much difference they see. The range voting allows voter to say "candidateA = 60 , candidateB = 40", i.e. he can cite how much difference he sees. IOW, AIT suceeds ONLY due to USELESS and ARTIFICIAL restrictions it imposes, and these restrictions dont exist in real life anyway. All in all, AIT is a useless discovery dealing with a useless restriction
.
Arrow got nobel prize for this useless discovery !!!
