Heroine killed Joseph Dredd. And that proves that India is a Dubai --- prosperity but no progress in The Science

I had decided to see Judge Joseph Dredd (seehttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt1343727/ ) at 4:45 pm at Wide Angle Cinema on his first day to Ahmedabad i.e. 21-sep-2012 Friday , i.e. today. So I had cancelled all evening meetings etc. and decided to leave the last meeting at 3.15 pm, so that I can reach theater at least at 3:45pm and ensure that I get the ticket. But I could leave the meet only at 4:15 pm. So I was worried that I may have to come back without watching Judge Dredd as the theater must have got houseful by now. I reached theater at 4:40pm , some 5 minutes before showtime. And what I was afraid of actually happened --- I had to come back without watching Dredd. But what disappointed me terribly was something else.

I could not see movie not because theater was houseful, but because the SHOW - OF - MOVIE - DREDD - WAS - CANCELED !!!

Why? And because only 3 tickets were sold !!!

And (sic) Heroine movie was going houseful. So theater-owner decided to cancel Judge Dredd movie , and instead show (sic) Heroine movie !!! If Heroine was not going Houseful, theater owner would have still shown Judge Dredd. In worst case, I would have purchased 6-7 tickets to meet a 10 ticket condition they have. (Below 10 tickets, show is unprofitable to them as they cant even pay the air-condition bill with such small money). But show was canceled because (sic) Heroine movie was going pack and so (sic) Heroine movie was put in place of Judge Dredd movie !!

So Heroine killed almighty Judge Joseph Dredd ... what a shameful event for people of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, NaMo and whole of India !!! Such a sham and shame would be unthinkable in USA or any Western country.

Frankly, if I had come back because theater was houseful , I would have felt glad that taste of people has improved. And movies like Judge Dredd are going houseful. But only 4 people showed up (including me) to see Judge Dredd in city of lakhs is utterly shameful. And what is more shameful is that (sic) Heroine show was going houseful. And what was even more shameful was theater-owner, blinded by extreme greed, canceled Judge Dredd show and replaced with (sic) Heroine show !!

This event only re-proves a point I have made repeatedly -- that in past 21 years, India has progressed like Dubai --- money but no real increase in The Science, scientific thinking, engineering skills etc. Money came because of software and cheaper Hospitals, but that is perhaps only 20% or even less. Much of the money is because we have NRIs abroad, and because we are selling iron ores, drilling more crude oil using foreign machines, selling huge land to MNCs etc . And for the dollars we get, we are importing crude oil, cars, mobile phones, DVDs, LCD TVs, LED TVs, iPhones and everything. It like Dubai selling oil and importing, not producing, best goods science can offer.

Had there been real scientific growth, then in young boys and men below 40 years, demand for scifi-action movies would have increased dramatically. I was in USA in 1990-1999, and I used to go to see scifi-action movie on opening day at 5pm to 8pm show. I used to see that even B grade scifi-action movie would have 100s of teenagers in 5pm show and 100s of 25-40 yrs old people in 8pm show. And A++ movie like Judge Dredd would go pack for weeks. USA too has brain-dead men who would prefer (sic) Heroine like movie to Judge Dredd. But at least 40% teenagers and some 30% in age-group of 20 years to 40 years would prefer Judge Dredd, and that is enough to fill theaters for weeks.

But come to India, and that too Ahmedabad which is one of the most prosperous city in India, movie like Judge Dredd goes blank.

NaMo or MMS can create any shows to tell all that Ahmedabad or Gujarat or India has progressed. But the taste of people has revealed that there is no real progress to speak of.

I dont want to propose solution to problem "Heroine killing Judge Dredd" problem. A solution is --- Govt or concerned guys like me should each buy 100s tickets and ask people to watch for free. But such subsidies are not sustainable and they only cover a lie. The solution is to ensure REAL progress in science and engineering. How?
