1. Short term gain and a HUGE long term loss for India as a whole ---- Kiran Bedi finally agree to become CM from a proven pro-corruption party , namely BJP !! Well, better than joining pseudo-anti-corruption-party like AAP but it is far far worse than living alone. But looks like people are too scared of becoming "irrelevant" and so dont mind joining a pro-corruption party to stay relevent. WELL , NO ONE WILL NOW PUT TRUST ANY ACTIVIST FOR NEXT 10 YEARS. And maybe, no one should.
.
2. I had "predicted" 40-45 seats for AAP . Now that changes with KB joining BJP. Now my guess is 40-45 seats for BJP. But anyway, predictions are useless.
.
3. But the fact that BJP \ NaMo had to run to get KB inside BJP proves that BJP \ NaMo were NOT at all confident of winning Delhi election all by themselves. So even after 8 months of rule, they cant beat the fake image paidmedia has created of ArKe as anti-corruption-hero.
.
=================
.
So there is some short term gain in KB's joining BJP. KB is non-corrupt and so finally Delhi will get real non-corrupt CM. But given that BJP and that too Delhi BJP is full of corruption , there is simply NO way she can make a big difference. She will be better than other corrupt or pro-leades of Congress / BJP . And she will be also better than pseudo-anti-corruption CM like ArKe. But claims that she can reduce corruption in Delhi by even 5% are all balooney. Forget making Delhi as low corrupt as USA or Germany, she can make Delhi as low corrupt as China (and China is far more corrupt than USA). All in all, she will be just like non-corrupt CMs like Sahib Singh Verma etc who never did anything to reduce corruption as a whole.
.
And there is HUGE long term loss in KB's joining BJP. Most citizens will now also feel "well, all this anti-corruption talks are just fake fads to get limelight --- better pay bribes and live in peace, and whatever we lost by paying bribes, just lets make it up by doing something illegal or unethical !!" . And for next 10 years or more, most activists and voters will RIGHTLY or wrongly see every anti-corruption-activist with complete distrust. Their feeling will be "well, he talks about anti-corruption today, but within 2-4 years after he gets limelight, he too will form some psuedo-anti-corruption-party the way ArKe did , OR he will join some pro-corruption party the way KB joined". So TRUE anti-corruption-activists will now feel a huge loss in their perceived credibility.
.
All in all --- lesson that ALL activists should learn is ---- do NOT put much hopes in leaders and please focus on law-drafts only. Over 99 out of 100 leaders are as weak as you , me anybody and not made of any steel as paidmedia says. When they fear that they will lose limelight, they can make any compromises to stay in limelight. Some may start psuedo-anti-corruption party like AAP and some may join pro-corruption-parties like BJP or Congress. If you had read the Janlokpal law-draft in apr-2011, you could have seen that it was NOTHING but a royal piece of junk, and to reduce corruption, the law-drafts like Right to Recall Police Chief, RTR CM, RTR PM, RTR judges , Jury System, Wealth tax minus credits, DDMRCAM etc are far far more useful.
.
So please focus on law-drafts and please dont waste time in following tall leaders.
