chapter-01. What are the proposals to restructure DD?

The proposals are ---
.
1. Dividing DD into 5 independent channels . One will be directly under PM, and each of the other 4 channel will have separate recallable Chairman. This is so that competition to report truth as well as provide entertainment increases. Private channels may show its contents for free.

2. Each State will have 2 channels, one over air and another on cable only. And both the channels will be under CM, who will be recallable.

3. The National DD and State DD channels will also start a daily newspaper and a weekly magazine which will be in PDF as well as print , and any newspaper can print its contents for free.

4. The Doordarshan staff will be recruited by written exams, and Jurors can expel the DD staff

5. If DD staff is accused of taking payments for news, then Jurors may order narcotest on the staff in public, and may imprison him. Those who dont like supervision by Jurors will be expelled

chapter-02. Is sleaze in movies and TV-serials a problem?
.
Those who watch all 4 ----- (a) English movies (b) Hindi movies (c) English TV serials and (d) Hindi TV-serials ----- may have noted that non-porn English movies and non-porn English TV-shows do NOT have much sleaze. Whereas sleaze is part and parcel of most mainstream Hindi movies and even prime time Hindi TV-serials. Many romantic Hindi movies look more like softporn movies. And even Hindi action etc movies have sleazy item songs in them. Whereas , one would rarely see so much sleaze , like item songs, in mainstream English action movies and action TV-serials.. All these problems are well known and well observed. So I wont discuss these problem here.

So does sleaze create any problems in society? IMO, YES. How? Consider country-A and country-B. If mainstream movies / TV-serials of country-A have less sleaze than mainstream movies / TV-serials of country-B , then country-A will be less worse off in several ways. WHY? How does excess dose of sleaze worsen country-B? The sleaze in movies and TV-serials creates an impression in young minds of country-B, that sleaze is sufficient to rise in life. And that beauty, appearance and sleazy dresses are everything, and there is no need to develop mental abilities. So in country-B, supply of beauty and appearance will rise, but supply of mental abilities will fall. So country-B will be worse off.

There are 100s of factors which matter --- and amount of sleaze is one of them.

In USA, the mainstream movies and primetime channels show LESS sleaze compared to India. There are sleazy shows, which have nothing but sleaze. There are adult channels, which show hard core porn movies. But majority of the primetime shows in mainstream channels will not show sleaze. Likewise, mainstream action , comedy, romantic etc movies will not have sleaze, Where in India, mainstream movies as well as mainstream primetime TV-serials are full of sleaze. So the young minds in USA would think that --- sleaze isnt sufficient to rise , one also need physical or mental abilities. This pushes him towards sports and academics. Whereas the Indian youth will tend to think that sleaze is sufficient to rise in life. This creates "why bother attitude" towards the task of developing abilities.

Anyway, opinions on whether country-A will be better off or worse off will be subjective. So I take that as a separate issue. This status post is for those who consider sleaze is indeed a problem and those who want to reduce it.

So how can we reduce sleaze in mainstream movies and mainstream TV-serials?

chapter-03. Relation between political power, paidnews / paidviews, entertainment and sleaze

Let me enumerate some of my observations and opinions about relationship between political power, paidnews, entertainment and sleaze in entertainment.

And then I will explain how RTR-DD-Chairman and other proposed law-drafts reduce the sleaze.

(a) Paidnews and paidviews are used to make and break careers of leaders, officers , judges
.
(b) Influence of paidnews \ paidviews depends number of viewers
.
(c) Entertainment is used to increase number of viewers. And entertainment is also used to DECREASE the number of viewers the person who is giving alternate news / views is giving, has. Please note --- this is very important. The entertainment is also used to DECREASE the number of viewers that -- the person who is giving alternate news / views is giving -- has. Let me explain. Say Person-A and Person-B are both trying to spread some information amongst thousands and lakhs and crores of citizens. Say information given by person-B damages elitemen. Then one option elitemen will use is --- (i) elitemen will flood channels-1 to channels-100 with entertainment (ii) channels-a to channels-100 will show only Person-A. (iii) Due to entertainment, crores of voters will see only channels-1 to channel-100 and see only person-A (iv) so person-B will not get any audience

(d) once viewers come, they are given a dose of paidnews \ paidviews along with entertainment
.
(e) in that way careers of leaders , officers , judges is made or broken using entertainment.

News channels lose money. And so do most entertainment channels. The beneficiaries of paidnews subsidize news channels and well as entertainment channels. Same applies for newspapers.

The paidnews / paidviews are NOT used to circulate lies, But they are meant to hide the truth.

eg say some elitemen decide to ensure that leader-A defeats leader-B.
.
The the elitemen will work as follows

1. The elitemen will pay channel-X1 to channels-X10 to give huge amount of entertainment even at a loss
.
2. These channels will give paidnews and paidviews , which more negative information about leader-B, hide positive information of leader-B, gives less negative information about leader-A and gives more negative information about leader-B
.
3. What if there are channels that give oppose of (2)? Then elitemen will need to pour so much money in their channels that oponents channels run out of money

4. Thus .public opinion will tilt in favor of leader-A. And negative information on his policies wont reach audience

chapter-04. Obscenity may pay the porn actors, but it doesnt pay well to the script writers, directors , investor etc.
.
Here is a simple fact --- pls check USA's movie industry. The porn stars do make a good living. But the script writers , directors, the engineers and technicians who make special effects, the articts who design sets and costumes, the choreographers, the musicians and investors etc make money in mainly in non-porn. The real source of high profits is --- giving non-porn and sleaze free entertainment. It could be action movie, science fiction, comedy, romantic etc. And such movies and TV-serials do NOT show even sleazy scene. Their movies may show attractive males and females , but are not porn movies and not even adult movies. In fact , mainstream English movies and TV-serials avoid nudity and sleaze. Exceptions exist. Thats because parents prefer to spend money on movies and TV-serials which dont have sleaze. And parents are big buyers.

So why there is so so much sleaze in Indian mainsteam movies and TV-serial?
.
The main reason is foreign investment.
.
The main goal of FDI in news and entertainment business is NOT to make money, but to subvert society. So even when sleaze doesnt pay, sleaze is added.

One solution is to end FDI in media. That is already my separate proposal. But lets see how RTR-DD-Chairman also reduces effect of this factor.

Thats because of FDI and demands of MNC-owners who have say in how much money will a Hindi-movie make in USA. The foreign elitemen want sleaze in mainstream Indian movies and primetime Indian channels. And so they promote the directors and script writers who make sleazy shows.

One proposal is to end FDI in India's media and movie business. Thats will reduce sleaze. But how will RTR-DD-Chairman and other proposals reduce sleaze? I have explained later.

But please note a fact --- most of the audience want GOOD NON-SLEAZY entertainment, and they turn to sleazy entertainment ONLY when no good NON-LSEAZY entertainment is there. So if good non-sleazy comedies, action , drama, romatic etc TV-serials and movies become available, then demand for entertainment with sleaze will fall.

Many young girls and guys get attracted by glamour because they are unaware that the relative probability of success in glamor is very low compared most other jobs !! Most persons in glamor world end up a high profile workers in "adult entertainment" industry, and get very low salary etc.

If full data with real names and examples come, then youth will see that 99% of actors / actresses etc fail miserably in their lives. And so rush towards Tv-serials / movies etc will reduce. And this will further increase the costs.

chapter-06 : Once RTR-DD comes, "profits" from paidnews will end , and so ability to subsidize entertainment will end

Once RTR-Doordarshan-Chairman comes, Doordarshan Chairman will be forced to ensure that every citizen is getting important truth, and so even if 100 channels suppress that truth, people will come to know via DD. And so now all the money paid to suppress the truth will go waste. So the elitemen will see that there is no point in paying money to news channels to suppress the news.And so they will stop paying the news channels. And so channel owners ability to fund entertainment will reduce. So all entertainment in private channels will reduce, along with sleaze.

Once DD-apex becomes less inefficient, DD will be able to make several movies and TV-serials with a lot of non-sleaze entertainment. So most audience , who want comedy, action etc without sleaze will be able to get their daily / weekly dose of entertainment of sleaze free entertainment from DD alone. And so demand for sleazy entertainment will drop.

This is how BBC works. BBC is owned and funded by British govt. BBC makes a lot of good non-sleaze entertainment --- comedies, action etc. And so British audience gets their daily dose of entertainment, and so a large chunk of audience shows no interest in sleazy entertainment. Those addicted to sleazy entertainment do take a huge dose of sleazy entertainment. But the mainstream family entertainment remains sleaze free.

chapter-08. Informing young girls and guys, with actual data and examples (WITH ACTUAL DATA AND EXAMPLES) , that modelling / movies/ serials make very very poor career will further reduce the sleaze

Many young girls and guys get attracted by glamour because they are unaware that the relative probability of success in glamor is very low compared most other jobs !! Most persons in glamor world end up a high profile workers in "adult entertainment" industry, and get very low salary etc.

So if a full data with all examples is shown ---- of all girls and guys who joined modelling/movie/serial business 20 years ago, and where they are now, compared to all girls and guys who joined normal jobs such as medicine, engineering or even factory/clerical jobs 20 years ago, and where they are now --- then many youngsters will lose interest in working movie / serial / modelling business.

So costs of making movies / serials / advt will rise, and this will make sleaze as well as non-sleaze glamour more expensive.

Today, Doordarshan officers and Education Dept officers dont do any such data gathering because they are immune to wrath of parents. Also, DD-Chairman and Education Dept would rather suppress this information, as they have good contacts with people in entertainment business.

chapter-09. Summing up

When RTR-Doordarshan-Chairman and other proposed law-drafts to fix Doordarshan get printed in Gazette, the sleaze will reduce because
.
1. Doordarshan will give all relavant / true news / views and so benefit obtained by asking private channels to suppress information goes down. So funds elitemen give to private channels will reduce. And so private channels to make shows , be sleazy or non-sleazy will decrease.
.
2. Doordarshan's inefficiency will decrease and so DD will be able to create a lot of non-sleazy entertainment and so audience will reduce watching sleazy entertainment. This will force private channels to reduce sleaze from their entertainment
.
3. Once Doordarshan and Govt run newspapers / textbooks give the FACTS that young guys and girls who take career in entertainment industry are worse off than. those who take other careers, the rush towards entertainment will reduce. And rush towards sleazy .making career in sleazy entertainment will further reduce. This will increase costs of making TV-serials, movies etc.

So private TV-channels as well as sleazy serials / movies will decrease.

So if a full data with all examples is shown ---- of all girls and guys who joined modelling/movie/serial business 20 years ago, and where they are now, compared to all girls and guys who joined normal jobs such as medicine, engineering or even factory/clerical jobs 20 years ago, and where they are now --- then many youngsters will lose interest in working movie / serial / modelling business.

So costs of making movies / serials / advt will rise, and this will make sleaze as well as non-sleaze glamour more expensive.

Today, Doordarshan officers and Education Dept officers dont do any such data gathering because they are immune to wrath of parents. Also, DD-Chairman and Education Dept would rather suppress this information, as they have good contacts with people in entertainment business.

chapter-09. Summing up

When RTR-Doordarshan-Chairman and other proposed law-drafts to fix Doordarshan get printed in Gazette, the sleaze will reduce because
.
1. Doordarshan will give all relavant / true news / views and so benefit obtained by asking private channels to suppress information goes down. So funds elitemen give to private channels will reduce. And so private channels to make shows , be sleazy or non-sleazy will decrease.

2. Doordarshan's inefficiency will decrease and so DD will be able to create a lot of non-sleazy entertainment and so audience will reduce watching sleazy entertainment. This will force private channels to reduce sleaze from their entertainment
.
3. Once Doordarshan and Govt run newspapers / textbooks give the FACTS that young guys and girls who take career in entertainment industry are worse off than. those who take other careers, the rush towards entertainment will reduce. And rush towards sleazy .making career in sleazy entertainment will further reduce. This will increase costs of making TV-serials, movies etc.

So private TV-channels as well as sleazy serials / movies will decrease.
