Slums in Metros ---- 100s of volcanoes waiting to erupt .

Solutions ---- (a) sale of open land by "deemed auction" only (b) wealth tax law-draft (c) make all land ownership of persons, companies, trusts etc public (d) SoMoKe, SoMoKe-AB , ConBhApSwaRa-workers oppose these laws, and so dont waste time with them.

The word "slum" has no exact definition. But it is a house with no pucca RCC roof and generall also lacks water connection and sewage connection !! And in almost all cases, the land belongs to someone else --- govt or private person who has not even legally given or rented it to the dweller !!

So what % of population of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata , Chennal, Banglalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad etc lives in slums?
.
Answers are.
.
Delhi --- over 30%
Mumbai --- over 40%
Kolkata --- over 40%
Banglalore --- over 30%
Ahmedabad --- over 30%
Hyderabad ---- over 30%
Chennal --- I dont know

And all these slums may explode like volcanoes.

The reasons are --- the income of slum dweller, compared to rise in medicine price, food etc isnt rising, and may even be falling. The water is in short supply and often sub-standard and even polluted. Plus, there is perpetual harassment from anti-social and criminal elements who pay bribes to local MLAs, local PIs and local Magistrates.

The only thing which keeps slum dwellers from not erupting like volcanoes is that they have some jobs.
.
But if economy stmbles, and even 10% of them become jobless, then slums may erupt. And there will always be leaders ArGandhi who will lead them to create more and more chaos.

Solution I propose is to print law-drafts that will reduce the land prices..
.
As land prices decreases, more business would start, and so unemployment will decrease. The slum rent will decrease and so savings of slum dwellers will increase. And as house prices decrease, they will be able to move out of slums to proper houses.

The solution that govt should make affordable houses is wrong. If govt gets into business of making cheap houses, it will become hell hole of corruption and quality of houses and amenities will be worst.

So what law-drafts can be printed to reduce law prices.
