Why are politicians in India opposing the proposals that we should have elected District Education Officers, elected Police Chiefs, elected District/State Judges, elected Public prosecutors etc?

Many commonly say that "politicians" and "political parties" want more and more power. And they want to increase their spheres of influence.

Then if India has elections over positions such as District Education Officers, Police Chiefs, District/State Judges, Public prosecutors , then political paties will be able to place more of their men at these positions.

They also, why each and apex every political leader in India is opposing the proposals that we should have elected District Education Officers, elected Police Chiefs, elected District/State Judges, elected Public prosecutors etc?
