OBC % population is about 42% of Gujarat and they have 27% reservation. Patel population is about 17% of Gujarat , and so Gujarat Govt should declare 27/40*17 = 11% reservation for Patels and end the matter.

Well, Tamil Nadu has been having reservation of 69% since 1980s !!! It is WHITE LIE that SCjs = Supreme Court judges have ordered that reservation should be below 50%. All SCjs have said that --- if State Govt wants reservation to exceed 50%, then it would need 67% approval of both houses in Parliament. As per the order of SCjs, which came in early 1990s, Tamil Nadu Govt asked MPs of both houses to approve or reject the proposal. In 1994, both LS and RS approved the proposal of TN state by over 67% . And so now TN's 69% reservation is constitutional.

Now AFAIS , Patels will gain 0% even if they get 11% reservation !! Why? Because as of now, they manage to get over 30% of seats anyway. If 11% seats are reserved for Patels, then Patels will get 11% seats with quota-label and get 19% seats with general-label !! The number will NOT increase from 30% to 31%. But , if they want the label --- let them have it.

I dont know the motives of Gujarat Ministers. Why are Gujarat Ministers opposing 11% reservation for Patels? All they need to do is to get a bill in State assembly, get it passed and send it to LS / RS

The OBC activists are worried because they hear two voices "give reservation to Patels \ Bhramins etc OR end reservation for OBCs !!!". This is creating tension in OBC-activists about MOTIVES of other activists. Is MOTIVE to get 11% reservation for Patels , Bhramins etc or is there motive to remove reservation for OBCs?

My request to ALL activists is --- always stay away from activists who keep two tongues in their mouth. One should be clear whether he wants 11% reservation for Patels or whether he wants to end reservation for OBCs. Either demand is good or bad, but having two tongues in mouth is ALWAYS bad.

Also, "wealthy" OBC do NOT get reservation benefits. The creamy layer criteria is Rs 6 lakh of GROSS income per year. So any govt employee or even private sector employee, whose perks and salary add upto Rs 50,000/mo or Rs 6 lakhs per year, his children are NOT qualified for OBC benefits. Same for business etc persons and farmers.

Now many manage to hide their incomes by showing income in family members' names or simply having cash incomes. So that way , many wealthy OBCs do manage to get benefits.

There is no such creamy layer law for SC / ST.

So those who claim that "we need a law to stop wealthy OBCs from taking reservation" should know that such law ALREADY exists !!!

And those who want "reservation for poor" have not taken reality into picture than any private businessman can manage to get himself qualified as poor by

(a) doing business in name of close relative and showing incomes in his name

(b) by doing all business in cash.

So those who talk about "reservation for poor" are saying so, IMO, because they dont want to waste their time in thinking thru. To any person who says that "reservation should be on economic basis", pls ask him to provide law-draft (DRAFT) to implement his own proposal. And you will see that ---- he is just a draftless wonder like SoMoKe and 1000s of CoBhAp-leaders and CoBhAp-supporters.

So all in all, please stay away from ALL draftless wonders. We already have 3 great draftless wonders ---- SoMoKe. And there are 100s in CoBhAp. We really dont need more draftless wonders

Summarizing, IMO, Govt of Gujarat should annouce 11% reservation for Patels and end the mess. And N * 0.65 % reservation should be announced for ALL sub-castes , where N is % population of that caste in Gujarat. eg Bhramins are some 4% of Gujarat. So they can be eligible for 4% * 0.65% = about 3% reservation and so forth.
